The data hall is the room your customers pay for, and it is the room that shows contamination first. Dust settles on cabinet tops and cold-aisle floors, packaging fibers ride the airflow into cabinets, and shoe grit grinds into the access floor at every door. Data hall cleaning keeps the white space at the cleanliness class it was commissioned to, without pulling a single rack offline.
The rule that governs data hall cleaning is simple: nothing you do can put debris into the air or a charge onto a board. That means ESD-safe tools, ESD-safe wipes, and vacuums with HEPA filtration that capture particles instead of redistributing them. A shop vac and a dry mop move contamination around; they do not remove it, and in a room where the airflow is designed to carry particles into equipment, moving them around is worse than leaving them alone.
What data hall cleaning covers
The work runs the horizontal surfaces first, cabinet tops, ladder rack, and the tops of containment, then the equipment exteriors, then the access floor. The point is that the clean is invisible to the load.
Cold aisle, hot aisle, and the floor between
A contained room cleans differently than an open one. In the cold aisle the perforated tiles are pulling air up toward the racks, so any debris on or under those tiles is headed straight for equipment intakes, and that is where the crew is most careful. The hot aisle collects less because air is leaving it, but the containment structure overhead and the tops of the cabinets still load up over time.
